Grant Early Childhood Network
Louisiana’s Early Childhood Education Act was passed by the state legislature in 2012. This act provided for an accountability system for early childhood programs in the state. Early Childhood Care and Education Networks were created throughout the state. In 2014 the Grant Parish Community Network was created. It includes the following entities, Grant Parish School Board, LaSalle Community Action Association Head Starts, South Grant Day Care, and Giggles and Hugs. We have quarterly meetings with all partners in the network.
The curriculum we use is a Tier I curriculum---Creative Curriculum. Our assessment system is TSGOLD. Both TSGOLD and Creative Curriculum were created by Teaching Strategies, Inc. They are aligned with the Louisiana Standards for 4-year-olds and also the Head Start Objectives for Development and Learning. All of our teachers, public schools, Head Starts, and child care centers, are evaluated using CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System). Our teachers receive job-embedded training. A certified CLASS coach provides professional learning to our Pre-K teachers.
Enrollment for any of these sites can be completed via our online application or you can pick up a copy of the application at one of the following sites: Colfax Elementary School, Georgetown High School, Pollock Elementary School, South Grant Elementary School, Verda Elementary School, Graham Head Start Center, Dry Prong Head Start Center, Giggles and Hugs Day Care Center, South Grant Day Care or the Grant Parish School Board Office.
All four-year-olds in a program in Grant Parish receive similar learning experiences and environments to prepare each child for success in Kindergarten
