Grant Early Childhood Network
Louisiana’s Early Childhood Education Act was passed by the state legislature in 2012. This act provided for an accountability system for early childhood programs in the state. Early Childhood Care and Education Networks were created throughout the state. In 2014 the Grant Parish Community Network was created. It includes the following entities, Grant Parish School Board, LaSalle Community Action Association Head Starts, Dogwood Learning Academy, and Giggles and Hugs. We have quarterly meetings with all partners in the network.
Curriculum
The curriculum we use is a Tier I curriculum---Creative Curriculum. Our assessment system is TSGOLD. Both TSGOLD and Creative Curriculum were created by Teaching Strategies, Inc. They are aligned with the Louisiana Standards for 4-year-olds and also the Head Start Objectives for Development and Learning. All of our teachers, public schools, Head Starts, and child care centers, are evaluated using CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System). Our teachers receive job-embedded training. A certified CLASS coach provides professional learning to our Pre-K teachers.
