Solo & Ensemble is a yearly event sponsored by LMEA District II. Students prepare either a solo piece or small ensemble (duet, trio, quartet, etc.) and perform for a judge in a closed room. Students will be assessed a rating of 1-4. The goal of Solo & Ensemble is to develop student independence. Successfully performing alone or with a small group is one of the most significant steps a student can take towards their development as musicians and their own personal confidence!A fee of $5.00 per student per solo/ensemble will be assessed. This fee should be paid to the director before the event.Check the current band calendar for dates.
•The teacher will help students select works to be performed if they cannot find one on their own.•Each student should have an original copy of the music being performed. Photo-copies are not allowed.•If a student is performing a solo with accompaniment, they will need to find their own pianist. The teacher may be able to provide electronic accompaniment for some common solos.•Students should be prepared for their performance.
