BOARD OF THE PARISH OF GRANT, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN

AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, July 5, 2016,

 

             The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, met in its regular meeting place, the Grant Parish School Board Office, Colfax, Louisiana, in Regular Session, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 6:00 o’clock P.M.

 

             There were present Mr. Randy Browning, Mrs. Lisa Roberts, Mrs. Charlene Anderson, Mrs. Mary Bullock, Mr. Bill Riggs Mr. A.D. Futrell and Mr. Buddy Pennison. 

 

              All of the Board Members were not present, Mrs. Karen Layton was absent.

 

             Mrs. Sheila S. Jackson, Secretary-Treasurer was also present.

 

             The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, was duly convened by Mrs. Mary Bullock, President of the Grant Parish School Board, who then stated that the Grant Parish School Board was ready to transact any business which may come before the Board.

            

Motion by Mrs. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Pennison and unanimously approved the June 7, 2016 Regular Board Minutes.

            

The following recognitions were made:

 

The Board recognized Mallorie Thornton from the South Grant School Based Health Clinic to discuss the 2015-2016 Report.

 

             There were no guests signed into the meeting.

 

             The Finance Committee discussed Grant High and Montgomery air conditioning budget prices. Motion by Mr. Pennison, seconded Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Browning and unanimously approved to authorize the superintendent to request proposals and quotes.

 

             The Transportation and Maintenance committee are still discussing the bus turnarounds.  There will be more discussion at the August Board Meeting.

 

             Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Riggs and unanimously approved the 2016-2017 Family Involvement Policy.

 

             The board received for approval at the August 4, 2016 meeting the 2016-2017 Pupil Progression Plan.

 

             Motion by Mr. Browning, seconded by Mrs. Anderson and unanimously approved the 2016-2017 General Fund Operational Budget.

 

             Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mrs. Roberts and unanimously approved the 2016-2017 Parish Wide and District Budgets.

 

             Motion by Mr. Pennison, seconded by Mr. Riggs and unanimously approved the 2016-2017 Lunch Fund Budget.

 

             Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mrs. Roberts and unanimously approved the 2016-2017 Operational Budgets.

 

             The board received for approval at the August 4, 2016 meeting the revised job description for the Transportation Manager.

 

             Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mrs. Roberts and unanimously approved Amendment 4 for 2016 eGMS NCLB Federal Funds tha have been approved by the Louisiana Department of Education.

 

             Motion by Mrs. Roberts, seconded by Mrs. Anderson and unanimously approved Amendment 5 for 2016 eGMS IDEA Federal Funds that have been approved by the Louisiana Department of Education.

 

             Motion by Mr. Pennison, seconded by Mrs. Anderson and unanimously approved the 2016- 2017 Grant Parish School Board Handbook.

 

             Motion by Mrs. Anderson, seconded by Mrs. Roberts and unanimously approved the Student and Faculty Handbooks for Grant High School, Georgetown High School, Montgomery High School, and Verda Elementary School.

 

Motion by Mrs. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Browning and unanimously approved the proposed changes to the Student Dress Code Policy.

 

Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mrs. Anderson and unanimously approved the proposed changes to the Student Secondary Discipline Policy.

 

Motion by Mrs. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Browning and unanimously approved the proposed changes to Policy GAMD (Dress and Appearance of School Personnel).

 

The board received for approval at the August 4, 2016 meeting Policies BH, School Board Ethics; DIEA, Preservation of School Board Records Due to Legal Action; EBBG, Hazardous Substances; GBD, Employment of Personnel; GBI, Evaluation; GBL, Tenure; and IDCH, Home Study Program.

 

The board received for approval at the August 4, 2016 the Grant Parish School Board 2016-2017 Athletic Program Manual.

 

Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Pennison and unanimously approved authorizing the Superintendent to sign and initiate all documents concerning the 2016-2017 Rapides Foundation Effective School Grant.

 

The Superintendent discussed with Board Members GPSB v. Wyndham Construction Company, 2016-2017 MFP report, and Ag Day Article featuring Grant Parish students.

 

             Motion by Mr. Pennison, seconded by Mr. Browning and unanimously approved adjourning the meeting.
