THE OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE GRANT PARISH SCHOOL

 BOARD OF THE PARISH OF GRANT, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN

AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 4, 2014.

 

            The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, met in its regular meeting place, the Grant Parish School Board Office, Colfax, Louisiana, in Regular Session, Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 6:00 o’clock P.M.

 

            There were present Mr. Eddie Baxley, Mr. Randy Browning, Mr. A.J. “Tony” Lavespere, Mr. Marvin DeLong, Mr. Terry Oliver, Mr. Buddy Pennison, Mr. A.D. Futrell, and Mrs. Karen Layton. 

 

            Everyone was present.

 

            Mrs. Sheila S. Jackson, Secretary-Treasurer was also present.

 

            The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, was duly convened by Honorable Eddie Baxley, President of the Grant Parish School Board, who then stated that the Grant Parish School Board was ready to transact any business which may come before the Board.

 

            Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Lavespere and unanimously approved the October 7, 2014 Minutes.

 

            The Superintendent recognized Semisi Halafihi for his art work from last year and Mr. Mark Hudson was the buyer and really appreciated the artwork.

 

            Mr. Paul McGee of the Louisiana Pecan Festival presented the Superintendent, Sheila Jackson with a check in the amount of $1,428.00 from a percentage of the proceeds of the Pecan Festival.

 

            Ms. Misty Farmer spoke to the Board concerning school uniforms. 

 

            Motion by Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Lavespere and unanimously approved an agreement with International.

 

            Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Pennison and unanimously approved the following budget revisions:

 

           a.  South Grant – District $5,000.00 Maintenance Supplies

           b.  South Grant – District $10,000.00 Repairs

           c.  Montgomery – District $6,000.00 Maintenance Supplies

           d.  Verda Elem. – District $2,000.00 Maintenance Supplies

 

            Mr. Bill Tudor said the flashing is no longer leaking at Grant Jr. High School. 

 

They are watching 2 spots but everything else looks good.  They will be watching closely after the rain comes.

 

            The District is still at a grade “B”.  There was a .6 decrease from last year. 

 

            Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mrs. Layton and unanimously approved the following policies:  ABCC (Term of Office), BCBB (Notification of School Board Meetings), BCBD (Agenda Preparation) and Dissemination), BCBH (Minutes of School Board Meetings), BCBK (Executive Sessions), EDD (School Bus Scheduling and Routing), GBRJ (Substitute Personnel), ID (Curriculum), IFA (Instructional Materials), JBC (School Admission), JBH (Attendance Reports For Student Drivers), and GBRIB (Sick Leave).

 

            Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Pennison and unanimously approved the Superintendent to travel out of state.

 

            The Superintendent had a color copy of all of the ornaments sent to the State Capitol building to be hung on the Christmas tree.  Mr. Steven Jones’ art class made them.   The Superintendent was very pleased with the ornaments.

 

            Motion by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Pennison and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting.
