 BOARD OF THE PARISH OF GRANT, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN

AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2011

 

                The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, met in a special meeting place, the Grant Junior High School, Dry Prong, Louisiana, in Special Session, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 5:00 o’clock P.M.

 

                There were present Mr. Roland ”Buddy” Pennison, Mr. Randy Browning, Mr. Eddie Baxley, Mr. A.J. Lavespere, and Mr. A.D. Futrell.

 

                Mr. Marvin DeLong, Mrs. Karen Layton and Mr. Terry Oliver were absent.

 

                Mrs. Sheila S. Jackson, Secretary-Treasurer was also present.

 

                The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, was duly convened by Honorable Randy Browning, President of the Grant Parish School Board, who then stated that the Parish School Board was ready to transact any business which may come before the Board. 

 

                Motion made by Mr. Pennison, seconded by Mr. Baxley and unanimously approved getting the Department of Transportation to install a caution school zone light system at Grant High.

 

                Motion made by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Lavespere and unanimously approved a Proclamation to recognize March 21, 2011 through March 25, 2011 as School Attendance Awareness Week.

 

                Motion made by Mr. Baxley, seconded by Mr. Futrell and unanimously approved requesting Louisiana National Guard finish the surrounding dirt work around the construction site at no cost to the Grant Parish School Board.

 

                Bus Driver, Mrs. Lynae Lewis demonstrated that the bus entrance between Grant Jr. High and Grant High was a functional drive for north bound buses.

 

                Everyone present then took a construction site walk through.  The building is coming along very nicely.  Mr. Bill Tudor took everyone on a tour of the entire school.  The front part of the school will be the next part to be completed.  Some of the classrooms have already been painted.  At this time the construction is still on time and under budget.

               

                Motion made by Mr. Baxley, seconded by Mr. Futrell and unanimously approved adjourning the meeting.
