STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON

THURSDAY, AUGUST 3, 2006

 

The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, met in its regular meeting place, the Grant Parish School Board Office, Colfax, Louisiana on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Six (6:00) o'clock P.M.

 

There were present Bobby Deen, Karen Layton, Eddie Baxley, A.D. Futrell, Craig A. McCain and Linda Amberg.

 

ABSENT: H. Neal Reeder and Gary Walker

 

Mrs. Sheila S. Jackson, Secretary-Treasurer was also present.

 

The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, was duly convened by Honorable Eddie Baxley, who then stated that the Parish School Board was ready to transact any business which may come before the Board.

 

Motion was made by Mr. Deen, seconded by Mr. Futrell and unanimously approved to accept the revised agenda.

 

Motion was made by Mr. McCain, seconded by Mrs. Layton and unanimously approved the minutes for the July 11, 2006 regular meeting.

 

The Superintendent recognized and presented a retirement plaque to the following employees:

The President of the Board recognized Mr. Bruce, a parent of a student at Georgetown High School.  Mr. Bruce stated to the Board that he had a concern on the suspension of his child that attends Georgetown High School.

 

Motion was made by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Deen and unanimously approved the inclusion of the following revised policies coded ED - Student Transportation Management, EDC - Student Transportation Safety Program, EGAA - Workers' Compensation, II - Testing Program and JGB - School Wellness - into the parish policy manual.

 

Motion was made by Mr. Deen, seconded by Mr. McCain and unanimously approved permission to sign the agreement with Louisiana Timed Managers.

Motion was made by Mrs. Amberg, seconded by Mr. Futrell and unanimously approved the following Recording by Electronic Means policy:

 

Grant Parish School Board employees are prohibited from audiotaping, videotaping, or any other recording by electronic means any conference, meeting, telephone or face-to-face conversation or other exchange while on the premises of a Grant Parish School Board facility, unless they expressly notify all persons in attendance or a party to said conference, meeting, or conversation of such intent to record in advance.  Any employee violating this policy will be subject to disciplinary action.

 

Motion was made by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. McCain and unanimously approved to go into executive session.  Grant Parish School Board Attorney Jon Guice stated that the pending litigation was for Karisney versus Grant Parish School Board case No. 17783 on record with the 35th District Court.

 

Motion was made by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. Deen and unanimously approved to go back into regular session.

 

Motion was made by Mr. Futrell, seconded by Mr. McCain and unanimously approved the following retirements, sabbatical leaves, resignations, employments and transfers:
